Hi,

I have a deicated server and it comes with plesk 8.3.0 on. It doesnt have Spam Assasin enabled as its greyed out. I cant buy a key for it as not allowed for some reason.

However I have seen that you can use spam Assasin without a key.

I have followed instructions from what I gather, but in the plesk control panel the little Ninja is still greyed out and the service module isnt started.

Is there a wayt to get round this problem??

Regards

Richard

Are you are talking about spamassassin support within PSA under licensing being greyed out? If so, not to worry, if you're running a Linux flavor box you can run ART's packages for spamassassin, qmail-scanner, pyzor, razor, dcc, and clamd to get spam and anti-virus protection.

What the PSA bit does is allow users to control / configure their spam settings from within the domain / mail cp of PSA. Currently you cannot manage your spam settings from Horde however Scott has squirrelmail setup to interface with his implementation of spamassassin so users can play with their spam settings..

Currently I set the spam settings global and unless someone complains that they are not getting emails from people that are ligit I keep it very tight.

Copy and paste the line below into your shell prompt:

yum install spamassassin dcc pyzor razor clamd qmail-scanner

Once this is done edit your local.cf and qmail-scanner.ini files for the preferences you want, lots of info on the project page and in this forum if you search for it.

Did you get Spamassassin working? I'm trying to do the same thing but I'm getting transaction errors when qmail-scanner tries to install one it's dependencies. I don't want to double-post, so I'll link to my other post. But I'm interested to know if you got it working?
