Hi All,

I am using the free rules from this site for quite a while now. I am considering purchasing the commercial ones, but not really sure what is the difference?

- Are they completely different rules set ?
- The rules are the same, but the updates are delayed for the free users ?

Thanks in advance,
Eli.

BTW,
It's a Cpanel Server, Centos x64 5.6

Its the real-time feed for rule updates, plus access to our clamav rules. The rules change daily based on emerging threats, fixes, etc.

It was so active we even gave it a twitter feed so it can have a social life:

The free rules are at least 90 days delayed from the real time rules, are only released weekly and are not supported.

The real time rules are updated in real time and new updates are released all day long. As Scott mentioned, the real time rules protect you against the latest threats and malicious sites, the delayed rules are only protecting you against whatever was known 90 days ago. The real time rules include all bug fixes and any other needed updates. And any false positives (or negatives), with the real time rules, are fixed for free the same day they are reported. The real time rules are also fully supported, and your license helps us pay for all the work that goes into the free rules and our open source projects.

With the real time rules, you don't have to do anything but let us know what you need, and we take care of it for you that day.

Hi,

I've upgraded to the commercial rules and wanted to update those of you who are still considering...

After testing the system for the last couple of days -
We went down from 5-6 false positives a day with the free rules, to ZERO false positives a day !

Eli.

We're very happy to hear that!

And if you ever do run into a false positive (nobodys perfect), just let us know and we will have a fix available the same day you report it.

Equally, if you need us to look into something that we should be protecting against, but are not, or even just something new you would like us to protect against please let us know. We generally get those out if they are not too complex the same day they are requested.
