Just a small comment on this while I remember -- a new version of the 2.6.32 testing branch of the OpenVZ kernel was recently released with a note that I understood to mean that additional RPMs would be included to allow it to be used on RHEL5-based host nodes (previously it was RHEL6/F14+ only as far as I'm aware). I may be wrong about this though.

I love the idea of a central system to monitor all asl servers.
About the price maybe you could have a scalable plan so it decreases a little bit the price for people not having more than 5 servers ???

Ooohh. I should probably buy at least 3 then from them :P
Do they send diamonds or gold along with the license ?

If you set it this way... Probably the tortix price is fine ! :)

If it was $199 vs $129 for example for the agent + asl together I think it would be more compelling.
For businesses with lots of servers but small leways in budgets, basically doubling the cost of ASL per year to centralize may be out of reach of some of the smaller guys.

We manage servers for lots of clients who have their own ASL licenses. It would be cool if it would be possible to have a single console for both our own ASL machines and the machines of our clients.

Yep, you will be able to do that.

On going of course. :-)

Its a complex product, due to the power of a single console controlling the security posture of multiple boxes its very important to us that we get all the details right.

I'm sure the complexity of the product multiples by n factor. The idea of a centralized dashboard, even if it were used for auditing/reporting is paramount when you have multiple hosts in a data center environment.

I'm guessing when it is released, we'll be able to integrate the standalone versions?

Thank you for the question. If by standalone you mean current ASL installations? If so, the goal is definitely to integrate. The final version is likely going to require installation of a component to facilitate this, thats part of what we are working now. We might just roll all that into a future ASL release, so you can upgrade to an enterprise console whenever you want.

Its all backend stuff. A big part of that is the behind the scenes security model between the central console and the end nodes, thats our highest priority task at the moment for Tortix. We have to make sure thats both reliable, and very secure.

please keep working on this project!
i sincerely hope money is not the main motivating factor to keep this project alive, because this is something that will change the entire landscape of linux security. as it already did for our company.
